  • I need some advice

hello, I hope every one is doing good. I hope everyone is pacient in here because i have alot of questions and a huge decision to make..lol.. I've been using the Appossionata Strings for sometime now and I love them more than what i had with EWQL. Right now I'm looking into getting better brasses and woodwinds. I do have a couple of questions and i hope to hear hounst answers.

The type of sound I'm looking for is epic but clear and has a character to it. when you hear them they are clear and not just a bass boosting or epic boosting sounds with zero use on there own.

The products that interest me is Brass II Wood winds I and SE vienna. Basicly it' s between either getting Brass II and Woodwinds I (about $2600) or the Se which is $1000. I would have to say that the price is important but not as important as Starting right and Not wasting money either. in another words i do not want to go for the SE only to find my self getting brass II and Wood Winds I later. I did realise that SE does have the epic horns and flutes that i was looking for from both brass II and woodwinds I. but i believe what makes Brass II and woodwinds Better choice is the included effects and playing teq. I wasn't clear on what's not included in SE that the Brass II and Woodwinds I has other than the effects parts. but the question Goes. If I'm just looking for sound only and owning Gold XP from EWQL which does have it's Effects and tricks sounds. If i were to go to SE. will i be missing alot? does brass II and woodwinds I have so manythings that makes SE look like a bad investment for a serious composer who wants a full access to an orchestra tricks? let me rephrase it just incase. Does SE have the best of BrassII and woodwinds I?

Edit: for another question, Ihave a 10,000RPM harddrive but the problem is it only goes to 150GB. Will there be A huge diffrience in performance if i were to get a SATA 7200RPM hardrive with bigger space(500gb)? The 10,000rpm harddrive is full from both EWQL's Gold xp, Colosus, Choir and the Appassionata Strings. I do plan on getting a secound harddrive but i was woundering if it would be a better investment to get a large space harddrive versus a limiter space but more rpm harddrive. My computer specs are MAC-PRO 8CORE Intel 3.0GHZ, 5GB of ram, main harddrive is 250gb and a secound 150GB harddrive.  thanks again!

  • I'm waiting for an answer. haven't bought anything yet but ready too. hopfully I'll get an opinion soon?

    Hi iibrahim,

    sorry for the late reply.

The answer to your question must be: The Special Edition contains "only" the most important articulations, therefore of MANY instruments.

    Please find more information here.

Whereas the collections dedicated to Brass and Woodwinds of course offer way more detailed articulations for the instruments included.

    Brass II

    Woodwinds I

Concerning your harddrives a 7200 rpm harddive will be fine for sample playback, actually we are using 10.000 rpm harddrives mostly for the system harddrives.

    Hope that helps!

    Best,

    Paul
