  • Bassi on Chamber Strings respond very weird sometimes!!!!

Hi I just purchased the Chamber Strings collection which I absolutely love. But in Performance Legato mode the Bassi collection acts weird.

If I play a note longer than 1 second, sometimes I hear players dropping in and out. It will start strong but it will end up with a faint bass still sustaining in the background. What could cause such inconsistancy.

    Hi  Knujynisis

If you are playing f on a Contra-Bass you have "no more bow" after 1-2s. Time to change the bow direction. String players in ensembles do this individual so that you have no "tone-interruption". If ensembles are small - 2 bass players with the Chamber Strings - you recognize these changings of the bow direction very well... I would say: Be happy that you got such a real bass duo[:)]

I wish you successful results with your Chamber Strings

  • Ok that worked for me. I was getting the same results for the Celli. Not that it mattered which instrument I played. But any.way. Now in legato mode...How do I change bow directions without creating a new starting tone. I just want to continue the sustained note , not a new note. Do I need to use the sus patches? If I do that I won't hear the legato performances right?

The peice I am trying to create involves long sustained notes but I still want the transition legato sounds. Pleas forgive me, I am a beginner with the VSL interface

  • Use sustain. For long notes like this you wouldn't play them slurred anyway.

  • One other thought. You can repeat the note but cover the gap with sustain pedal, or even by increasing the release time for this note.
