  • My first attempt at epic!

    RaySpace Reverb (multiple instances)

ProjectSAM True Strike 2 (percussion and sound effects)

Vienna Symphonic Library (strings - chamber)

    Bela D Spiritual Wind (Didgeridoo)

    Vember Audio Surge synthesizer (Rumbles)

    Kontakt 2 (brass)

This is my first real attempt at doing orchestral correctly. I'm really a noob, but just now I learned about stereo imaging, panning, and how to use my reverb correctly. This is actually the first time I spent a few hours just to setup all the instruments beforehand and plan stuff out (mostly because I haven't setup a template yet). I learned a lot doing this and I will continue to develop better mixing skills by listening to other VSL works.

    Comments, critisism, kwestions, all welcome.

  • My answer: Lasirius for reference? Being good on its own, but not deserving to be called "epic".

  • If this isn't epic, I'm not sure what is.

  • I referred to "epic" in the meaning of grand and dramatic. While you are already up to the latter it's still not grand or for that matter broad. The orchestration isn't fully fletched as others may say. Therefore also my Lasirius reference comment for some really epic lines. In your style you also might want to listen and compare to quite a few Powell scores (i.e. Bourne 1/2/3) as it would perhaps be a better match here. It's just my opinion on the definition of "epic", so please just take it as it this.

    All the best,
