  • Problems with New Performance Tool, Gigastudio and Sonar

I am hoping you can help me with a technical problem I am experiencing.

I have downloaded the new performance tool which works great when I use it with gigastudio ...... but I just can't get it working with Sonar.

I have followed the instructions in the download manual to ensure that I am opening the applications in the right order (Keyboard - Sequencer - Perf Tool - Gigastudio) yet the performance tool doesn't seem to function properly with Sonar with my current settings.

I think I might have conflicts in my settings:

    GIGA
    Outputs Enabled: Port 1/2
Midi in to Midi out mapping: None

    PERF TOOL
    INPUT:SB LIVE! MIDI UART
PORT 1 OUTPUT: NEMESYS MIDIOUT PORT 1
PORT 2 OUTPUT: NEMESYS MIDIOUT PORT 2
    etc

    SONAR
    INPUT:SB LIVE! MIDI UART
    OUTPUT: NEMESYS MIDIOUT PORT 1, 2, 3, 4

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

mark, you have to build a *chain* - currently you have configured two lines sending midi simultaneously to gigastudio (assuming all runs on a single computer) - to connect all in a row you will need virtual midi ports (like maple ports or midi yoke)
    keyboard into SB life (physical)
sonar in is SB life (make sure only the track you use for keyboard is set to listen to the SB lifen and no track is set to *listen to all*)
set sonar out to the virtual midiports
set performance tool in to virtual ports out
set performance tool out to nemesysports

of course you don't need to use virtual midiports and performance tool and route from sonar directly to a nemeysport on a port for which you don't use performance elements (and therefore don't need the performance tool in your chain), but i'd recommend to setup the routing anyway and set the performance tool mode to *thru*

if a nemesysport receives midi from one source via two lines you will notice unexpected results, because the *order* of midi signals will get screwed up

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.

    Thanks for your quick reply.

After doing a clean install and re-loading of software I had neglected to load the maple application which I had installed on my previous machine. As you said, I therefore had no virtual ports in order to build a chain.

I changed my settings and installed the software this morning and everything is working great again.

Thank you very much for your help!!
