    No joke. I mean when VSL release a product with all the work, time, effort and money spent on it - they don't "miss" something of that maginitude. They dont go "whoops, fuck - we released this product but we forgot the mutes!"

    You would have to buy the Brass I package to get the stopped horns no doubt.

    Anyway, if it really is deliberate, I would like to hear the argument why they came to that decision. I mean, you have to be sitting there, someone goes "Let's give them muted brass", and then someone goes, "yeah, every single instrument, EXCEPT Horns", and then they all nod in agreement, "yeah, except Horns", and then it repeats, "yeah, except horns", "yeah, except horns", "his name is Robert Pulsen", "his name is Robert Pulsen", "his name is Robert Pulsen"... and so on and so on

    Not just left out of the SE, I don't think there are muted horns in any VSL collection (by this, I mean true non-transposing mutes and not the stopped samples which are included in the Cube). This does seems to be a significant omission in the library given that the Trumpets have muted articulations, and the Trombones even have 2 sets of muted samples.

    Currently, I'm having to fall back on a lower quality library for muted horns. [:(]

    Yeah well stopped horns is fine. Pro Edition users were given them in a special library update (wonder why they needed to do that? [;)] ) and I believe they are in the Epic Horns.

    Still awaiting official answer to this ommission.

    Interesting. I have been around pretty long, and I dont recall them forgetting something of that size?

    Neglecting, ignoring, or postponing yes - but simply forgetting - no. So what was it?

    Regarding its ommision... well it's pretty simple I guess. A mixture between having to cut down somewhere, and having to make sure that people have a good reason to upgrade. I mean, I dont see the mystery.

    The VSL is a great library and I am continually amazed at the results that are possible with it.

    However, on this issue, the mystery, as I see it, is why are there no muted horns at all in any of the collections. Don't forget, stopped and muted are not the same thing. Each has a completely different tone color, and muted horns (con sordino) are used frequently in 20th century music, as are stopped. So, it would be helpful to include both.

    I understand it is a tremendous undertaking to have to duplicate the entire articulation set for a different mode such as mutes. But it was done for the trumpets and trombones (twice), so why not horns? Even a reduced set would be helpfull, although performance legato con sordino would be much more useful than performance legato stopped.
