  • Is anyone else using V-Stack or Forte to slave effects on PC

I'm using DP 5.1 on a Mac G4 Dual 1.25 Ghz. w/ 2 GB RAM. I'm also using Gigastudio on a Sony Vaio laptop 2.5 Ghz. p4.When I try to do a large mix (30 plus audio tracks) plus plug-ins like Altiverb, Wizooverb, my Mac is really stressed hard.My thought was to install Altiverb and the Wizooverb on my PC laptop and send the reverb over ADAT lightpipe back to DP on the Mac, just like I'm doing with Gigastudio. Is anyone doing this with effect plug-ins? This way I'm thinking I could take some of the CPU processing load off of the Mac. With the new Tascam GVI coming out, I'm thinking I could load the effects plug-ins and GVI into V-Stack, and route that over via ADAT to my Mac audio interface. If anyone else is doing this with effects, I would really appreciate your feedback, as to whether or not this is a viable
    solution.

    Thanks,

    Tom

  • I use forte together with VI, GS3, Kontakt 2 & some effects on PC & Laptop.
    Works fine.

Thanks for your quick response. Do you use your effects on your slave computer going back into DP on the Mac. If so, how do you route the effects?

    Thanks,

No the effects do not go back.
I have running the sequencer (or Overture 4) on the laptop connected via LAN (MolCP3) with my PC on which all libraries & effects are located.
K2, VI, GS3 are in the forte rack & recorded from there.
