My report:
VSL-VI v. 1.06b
Syncrosoft v 5.0.5.0
Plugin Mode (Standalone was not tested)
System:
Apple G5 2.5 Dual
OSX 10.4.7
Digital Performer v 5.01
6 GB RAM
Each instance used in these tests contained anywhere from 4 to 8 "fat" matrices, loaded with almost every imaginable combination of patches. Very "stressy", as they say... stressier than usual.
Initial Startup from file:
Key recognition = 12 seconds
5 Instances of VI, strings only = 2.47 GB
Load time approx 5 min 3 sec
Previously with Syncrosoft 5.0.2.0 and VSL-VI 1.05.2-- same project:
Key recognition = 2.5- 3 min
Sample load time = approx 7 m 38 sec
===================
Second load data
Different project from DAW menu:
Key recognition = 6 sec
6 Instances strings only = 2.78 GB
Sample load time = 3 m 15 sec
Previously with Syncrosoft 5.0.2.0 and VSL-VI 1.05.2-- same project
Key recognition = 15 sec
Sample load time = 8 m 30 sec
===================
Improvement Summary
Initial Project Benefit:
Key Recognition Time Savings = 2 m 43 sec
Sample Load Time Savings = 2 m 33 sec
TOTAL TIME SAVINGS = 5 m 11 sec
Secondary Project Benefit:
Key Recognition Time Savings = 9 sec
Sample Load Time Savings = 5 m 15 sec
TOTAL TIME SAVINGS = 5 m 26 sec
*********
Clearly, the combination of Syncrosoft v 5.0.5.0 and VSL-VI v 1.06b has proven to be the best combo to date.
There were no installation problems.
There were no recognition problems.
There were no glitches (because I prayed REALLY hard and had my fingers crossed with a rabbit's foot around my neck).
There WAS one strange issue in which a warning window appeared when I opened the very first console on the initial project. It claimed that my custom patch folder could not be found. However, the project loaded just fine and all custom patches were loaded and located in the VI Console. Not sure what triggered the error message.
The improvements on my system are undeniably substantial.
Thanks !!!

Hi Maya,
Good news that there are advances on this issue.
I've installed the Synchrosoft and Vienna beta packages and now have the following times:
Initial start-up times (for the Symphonic Cube Extended! = 10 Master Licenses)
Initial Start-up Vienna Standalone 1'50" (Searching licenses dialogue box at 25")
Initial Start-up AU Plug-in 2':30" (Searching licenses dialogue box at 10")
This is on a G5 dual 2.5. OS 10.4.7 6.5GB RAM AU running in Logic 7.2.1
Dissappointing the times are about x2 your times.
Be interested to see some more Initial start times (JWL what is your Initial start time of the first Vienna Instance without samples/matrices)
Julian.

My report I'm afraid, is much less precise, I didn't time anything, but...
On opening Nuendo (MAC) for a new project, the time seemed cut in half. Much improved so far.

On a G4 dual 1.8 with 4.5 GB running 10.4.4, with Syncrosoft 4.9.8.3, one test Logic song had loaded in 10:51. After loading 5.0.4.0, the time dropped to 9:34. Improvement, but far less than I had hoped.
Would upgrading to OS 10.4.7 help at all?
Hi,
you need to install the preliminary version of LCC 5.0.5.0 which is to be found in the download area on our website (User Area/Vienna Instruments/Software updates).
Best,

I don't know - I would like the start up time to be much quicker but 5 mins is still better than 50 minutes to sort out SLCC issues and eventually going back to a previously known working version. 4.9.x is at least allowing me to work.
Any more 'positive' reports regarding this beta test for someone as 'chicken' as me [:O]ops: ???

I was hesitant to go to the Beta as well. My version of LCC worked right away and after reading so many horror stories I just stayed with that one. (Can't remember the version now but it was one of the early ones).
But since I had no major projects going I decided to try the Beta. After installing I needed to restart to get it to see my lisences but after that it worked fine and is indeed faster.
I'm on a Mac 2.3 Dual Core with OS 10.4.7 and running the VI mainly as an AU in Logic 7.2.1.
I think it's as safe as it can be at the moment.

Thanks J. Perhaps in three days when this current project goes out (done or not [:O]ops: ) - I'll give it a try.
