    Hi... Been reading some of the product decriptions and stumbled upon this: "the leisurely “smeared” portamentos, are particularly impressive as Interval Performances with the new audio engine’s algorithms" - first of all. What makes them impressive? Impressive how?

    Secondly can you elaborate upon these algorithms and how they will influence our music?

    [edit] Out of curiosity - Percussion will include some instruments with MIR verb on it "to work faster" - is there anything specific about Percussion which dictates that this idea was implemented for them, and not other instruments. I'm here to learn [[:)]]

    The way I understood "algorithms" is that they are some type of scripting language or Melodyne like function with stretching and pitching capabilities - amazing therefore, because realtime is always a problem with those.

    Re: Percussion - usually very short snippets and a great amount of rapid notes, getting your computer choking very fastly. Pre-rendered verb must not be calculated but can simply be convoluted to the signal. As far as I read this at first will be for all instruments for composing stage, because the final render is not still not possible in realtime with tomorrow's computers.

    Regarding the percussion it makes sense.

    But I would still like a more detailed answer from VSL regarding the algorithms - what are they, how do they halp us as musicians, what do they make possible which was not before, and what do they do for the portamento strings? [:)]

    The Legato Performance algorithms of the Performance Tool have been revised for improved authenticity and real-time performance of the Vienna Instruments.

    [:D] You can do better than that no? Can you elaborate on these concepts - what do they do. How will authenticity be improved? What you replied here is more or less what I can read in the product descriptions. I write here now becuase I'm interested in knowing more.

    And what are the new "Expressive interval legato" recordings that I mentioned earlier

    The expressive interval legatos are Legato Performances "forte sul con sordino". So with the Vienna Instruments you are not only able to play the already existing soft muted legatos, but also the lauder ones, that's why we called them "espressivo".

    Sorry I can't reveal more about the new algorithms. it's the same legato concept as the one of the Performance Tool, but programmed differently from the ground up.
