  • Listening to demos not possible with Firefox

The VSL demos aren't playable in Firefox (at least not for me). The browser suggests installing a quicktime plugin but surely this can't be necessary. In IE everything works fine.

I believe that the VSL web pages makes use of the EMBED html tag. This tag is nonstandard and Firefox doesn't seem to handle it the same way as IE do.
There are ways to make it work in both IE and Firefox. This page about web pages and mp3 files indicates that wrapping the EMBED tag inside an OBJECT tag is the solution, making the songs playable in most browsers.

Nowadays around 10-20% of the people uses Firefox.
In Finland for example it seems like every third browser is Firefox.
I think VSL would benefit from letting these users play the demos just as easy as everyone else.

    Best regards,
    Nils

  • Meanwhile - if you click the download link it'll either prompt the download window or opens the standard application on your computer for mp3 playback to play it back.

You're right - I didn't see that there's a link to the mp3 in the popup windows. Thanks a lot PolarBear!

Still, I hope that VSL will fix this incombatilibity. It's really simple, and not having to download the whole mp3 means that the playback starts earlier since the music is streamed in that case.
