    Can anyone suggest some starting EQ numbers for simulating muted (con sordino) strings using VSL's normal strings (both solo and ensemble). I know every mix is different, but please be as specific as you can. I promise not to hold you responsible for the results. [[;)]]

    -20dB at 2800Hz with a narrowish Q of 5
    plus +5dB shelving at 4500Hz to bring back some top end.

    I do that sometimes (perhaps not so extreme) to make live strings sound muted or a sort of semi-muted (can't just change patch in the mix!).
