  • The Bond Theme (Follow up to the 'competition')

Hi, I just finished my mockup-version of the well-known James Bond Theme. I used the Dr. No symphonic theme as reference:

Let me know what you think, all comments are welcome!

Brilliant. You did a much better job of the 'Swing' Aspect than I did. I also liked the use of the walking notes in the middle section .. Of course that 's how it should go ;D I just didn't know what to do there. Getting the first strike at the begining of the song is a real challenge isn't it! hehe.

I found it quite difficult to get the strings to play the main melody in my version with any amount of vigor .. and ended up layering sfz's and 'stacs' to get close to it.

Still lovely to hear. So we've got the Roger Moore Period theme and now the Sean Connery Period .. who will do Lazenby, Dalton, and Brosnan period ;D

  • I found some historical background: http://www.montynorman.com/site/jamesbond/bond_2.php (and following).

  • Very cool arrangement. Sounds totally different to what Hetoreyn did.
Yes, your swing seems to be swinging more. I think the mix is a bit off-balance... but probably because it sounds rather mono. Altough that is pretty nice since the original films were in mono.

  • Thanks for listening, guys! I saw in the following article, that Norman didn't write this theme for the Bond movies initially, and planning re-recording a song with different orchestration:

  • Just thought I'd let you know I did a little update. I switched positions of trumpets and Epic Horns, thus enhancing the stereo spread a bit, as well as I tried to get rid of some dullness I sensed now. I think it also helps the hits a bit and the trumpets cut more through... Anyway, find it here:

  • The stereofield sounds much better now. And altough I find some parts to sound rather 'distant' it has that 60s feel for me. nice cover version!
