  • whitch string?

hello, i have opus 1,2 bunddle.
Do you think i should complete it with solo string or chamber string ?

    thank you and best regards

  • Depends, are you more interested in writing solo pieces and violin/cello concertos, or more interested in beefing up the sound of your string sections?

  • solo string is the better value, and works well to layer along with sections; chamber strings is fine, but more expensive, not as distinctive, and not more capable.

  • the result is what i want.
so, if solo merged with opus is great it is ok for me.
But i don't know if there is lot difference beetwen solo string and the basic solo string in opus.
if the only difference is the legato, is it a good choice or is it better to keep the sound of solo string from opus to the sound and merge with the chamber?

  • from the articulations list, it appears that the only solo strings are in opus 2 as 'bonus files' with sample counts that indicate MUCH is missing, though the basic articulations are there. So how do they work for you?

  • If you come along with the solo strings from Opus 2 (which is something I'd be interested in, too, because from the articulation list I think I may need more judging by what I use from Opus 1 full sections...) I'd get Chamber Strings. However, if you have no or little need for small ensembles it will not be of much use for you. Divisi writing and some layering over the full section, but the latter is maybe done better with solo strings (never tested this). You could even go as far as build your own ensembles with solo strings with up- and downpitched versions of the articulations. That involves some fiddling around though [;)]

I suspect if you have use for both packages, you won't regret buying either...
