    max $500 monitors:

    KRK Rockit 8"
    Tapco S8
    Behringer 2031a
    Bluesky 2.1 (new, haven't even heard it yet)

    What do people think? The KRK's sounded better than I expected and I haven't even heard the others yet.

    We had some KRK's and got rid of them as being too basey.

    If your budget is tight I recommend the Event bas 20/20, which is at Sweetwater for $449. We have five of them and the matching subwoofer. There is also a new compact version of the Mackie 824 called the 624 that is also $449.

    maybe stereo is overrated... [:)]

    The ones I'm looking at are ~$500 for the set. And the blueskys are ~500 for the 2.1 setup, bt I haven't heard them yet.

    I would love to get the 624's...

    I personally would either buy very inexpensive monitors to tide me over or wait until I could afford the right ones.
