    Hi
Yes you are right. There is a dead link yet. What you see is the
Beta-Version of the Tutorial. There are lots of mistakes inside it.
I'm going to correct them and then I'll generate a PDF.
Perhaps tomorrow... I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

    Thanks!

  • Very impressive Beat. Your 'teaching style' is as clear and concise as I have ever seen. VSL should hire you [:D]

I wish I had this kind of time to give such care on every project. I imagine that it gets faster once you do this more often. I would need 3 more computers (with a ready template - I have two machines now dedicated to VSL) to have all the necessary art files loaded ready to go. It it nice to know that we can get good results given enough time, computers, etc.

  • Very clear and very helpful. Beat, thank you for taking the time to put it together. It is very much appreciated.

  • Many thanks! [:D]
I've downloaded them all (including MIDI, audio and short notes). Now I can read them away from that square screen I'm looking at way too much already... [[;)]]

    kind regards

  • Beat this tutorial clears up the very problem I mentioned a little while ago, and the one I've been searching for an answer to for some time - that of whether to use controllers or articulations for dynamic control.

You've produced a fine result in your tutorial and I look forward to working on my new-found techniques.

It's doubly great that your a Cubase user too - I don't even have to trranslate your ideas to another DAW.

Great work again and many thanks for your time.

  • Beat, this looks really really good. This is spurring me on to get Opus1&2. But my question is, will most of this apply to the Horizon series as well? If not, is it somewhat useful? And would a newbie to VSL find these guides more confusing for Opus 1 or not?

    Hi metrobot
I used for my examples those instruments which could show in a good way the effects I wanted to point out. But: These tips are valid for all the VSL instruments.

As you know the OPUS – series are extracts from the First Edition etc. On one hand you will get a reduced range of files > For example no dim- and cresc- samples, no 0sus-samples,... But on the other hand you will own Legato-samples and the Performance Tool which is not included with the First- / or Pro Edition. A further advantage is that you don’t pay samples twice. So if you’re going to buy the First– or Pro Edition once, you will pay only the additions.
By the way: Compare the articulations between your favorite products.

You will be disappointed in the very first days as a VSL – owner. You have thousands of samples and can’t reach the results of the well known demos. Perhaps you also don’t know Gigastudio, HALion, Cubase, Logic or what ever you will use. In this case it could be really a hard way to make progress.
But little by little you will learn to use the different samples. I’m sure my tutorials will help you too. You also will find all the sample-types (stac, 0,3s, trem, trill, sfz...) with every instrument. So if you got a "sample-type-overview" and how they sound...
I’m looking forward to your first demo(s). [:D]

    All the best

    Hi pitchoune
Thank you for your enthusiastic words of thanks...

By the way... this are "REAL TUTORIALS". [[[[[;)]]]]] [[[[[;)]]]]] [[[[[;)]]]]]

I propose VSL should do what we are not able to do: Producing samples!
So I confirm Pauls "take it easy!"... and I know you take it [[[[[;)]]]]]
