which sequencer do a majority of the folks here use? I really like tracktion, but its midi implementation leaves something to be desired. I've always heard cubase is pretty good though have never tried it...thoughts, comments, opinions welcome...thanks!

It's all a matter of religion. MOTU DP, Logic Audio, Cubase/Nuendo, Cakewalk Sonar...they're all good contenders.

All the major software companies have functional demos of their sequencers availible. After that it comes down to personal taste, the given OS, and perhaps money... I guess the majority here uses Cubase/Nuendo for PC and Logic for Mac, although that doesn't mean the contenders are necessarily worse.

coming from a compositional standpoint, I use finale/sibelius to write everything then export to Cubase. I've found cubase/nuendo to be the most user friendly for me personally, BUT I'm not having to do *any* midi entry, everything I do is editing as far as cubase is concerned.
But yeah, honestly its personal preference, DL the free versions and try them out, find which one works best for you.
