  • Interesting - relating to solo strings and perf tool

I wonder if someone has perhaps already had this problem.
I recently got hold of the Horizon solo strings, and updated the tool to reflect this. The relevant dialogue box containing enabled modes clearly shows that Hor-legato is enabled, and yet when I come to load the performance legato preset, it presents me with the dialogue box "File type doesn't match - no loading..."

I've tried everything I can think of as being the obvious:
    1. Rebooted, re-started perf tool etc, in order to allow it to 'catch-up'
    2. Re-run the activation tool, and yet this shouldn't be the problem, as Hor-Legato is clearly an enabled mode.

Any thoughts or solutions would be most welcome, apologies if this thread has already been posted, but another strange phenomenon I'm encountering is the VSL website's 'strange' (read here, unusable) search engine.

    Many thanks

  • If you get this message:

"File type doesn't match - no loading..."

you are mixing Legato and Hor-Legato presets.
That means you try to load a Legato preset into a Hor-Legato, or vice versa.
Do you own Pro Edition and Solo Strings?
In this case you have acces to both presets for solo violin, solo cello. Normal Legato for the Pro Edition version, and Hor-Legato for the solo strings version. MAybe you've mixed them up?

  • Herb,

Many thanks for your quick reply. The error was merely one of oversight. What I'd failed to understand was that The horizon peformance legato was a different 'mode' of legato from the symphonic cube legato, so that generated the mismatch. I can't see this covered anywhere in the manual, but now I've realised; it is blindingly obvious, but also easy to miss as the drop-down menu is quite small.

Many thanks for the speedy response though.

  • Ho hum. yet another wordy posting that I've read that wound up having nothing to do with General VSL discussion but rather a PC based issue.

    This sucks.

  • Hehe, soon it will also be Mac related.

  • Yeah, have already read some of your posts/replies etc, you seem like the kind of guy who hangs around these forums waiting until someone has the nerve to ask a stupid question, and then pounce upon this - where do you suggest the question should be addressed? I suggest your posts are neither helpful nor necessary, incidentally, the wordy nature of the post came from the desire to supply sufficient information.

    ZAPPA,

No worries. And I believe every question that spurs someone to ask is important.
