no, but it WILL be done with VSL when gs3 released

The drama of the slow tempo is exceptional. yes, you do need some verb. [;)] I hear yoru influence from Jerry Goldsmith. In fact it reminds me of a mix between VOYAGER and RUDY. Both of those scores have a lot of spirit. And so does yours.
Great job. It could benefit from more advanced orcehstration, just to raise the level of presentation, but compositionally it is very moving. With an orchestrator it would be perfect!

Hi Thomas,
what I miss is some more variation of the high strings pattern. They get a bit annoying. Also instrumentationwise I could imagine some variation. I have no problem with repeating and persisting stuff but I wished some more sonical rafinesse. Since these are samples the repition is too literal. Maybe some faster movement patterns inside the string arrangements could help, you only have "doublepounders" there (nice german word: Pfundnoten), also in horns.
Do you own SIS full or mini version? I tend to like these strings lately. ItĀ“s quite a bit mechanical in the notechanges, especially in these big intervals, but the basic sound is very nice. Hearing again some changes are quite good, others arenĀ“t. Maybe thereĀ“s some room for improvement on your side.
I like the piano part.

mathis,
You said what I dared not. It was quite annoying and boring. But to be honest I still stick to what I say, which is the spirit and the composition is very good and dramatic. Especially for film work. The orchestration is a sore thumb though.

yes, I got SISS full, and SISS gives me a better idea on composing rather than VSL string ( maybe VSL string are too complex to use tho ), anyway, I am a composer, not orchestrator, I am lucky that I could compose such pieces without having any music education background, what do you think guys ? heh

I think if you got yourself a music education you wouldn't have to ask.@lkthomas said:

You would know where you fit. And you'd be able to shun criticism. It's worth it. Think about learning more about music theory. Unfortunately about 95% of music theory taught is distressingly offbase for composition. Finding a good program somewhere is going to be hard. Be persistant, and look with a critical eye.
Knowledge is power. Ignorance is bliss. Shoot for somewhere inbetween if you'd like to keep your sanity.
