  • I studied with Scott for 5 years both privately and publicly (classes and seminars). We hit it off and developed a deep friendship.

I highly recommend the seminar, but I also recommend that you apply what you learn and take the seminar again to absorb some of what didn't sink in the last time.

He mainly teaches optimum Hollywood orchestration as it relates to full orchestra. But the techniques can be applied in sections and can be used to discern the best voicings for limited ensembles as well.

Take it! Good luck, and enjoy!

Tell him I sent you of course.

  • Thank you for your quick response, Evan. One last question: is it true, that every student is given about 250 pages of scores during the course? This would be great...!

  • I just got back from Scott’s seminar last week in Los Angeles and can’t imagine how anyone could go wrong working with him. Yes, the scores are included, and are helpful, yet the real strength is Scott himself, quite brilliant in his own right. He is also innovative and structures the orchestra a bit differently which in producing a different sound, requires a different approach. No matter where you are along your learning curve his input could only contribute to your musicianship. Think of it as the INDISPENSIBLE course in “guerilla orchestration”- pulling the maximum potential out of an orchestra yet framing it in complete musical sensitivity and thoughtfulness.

  • I have heard from Scott via a Yahoo email list. Does he ever come to Europe for workshops? Is anyone familiar with orchestration seminars or workshops in Europe?

    Cheers,
    Peter
