Still WIP, a few hours work so far. There is a little distortion at around 29 secs... going to fix that tonight, i must have mixed one of the instruments beyond a peak.

I'll come back to you this evening, when I return from Bristol. The others will also, so don't fret. [H]

no sweat [:D] Here's an ambience cue track in the meantime in addition to the other...

  • I thought these are interesting cues and very well done.

I had one minor criticism just on the mix of the fast one - it sounds like a little too much (or too long) reverb for the quick repeated rhythms. Maybe a tighter room would be desirable with all those percussive sounds?

  • Hello James

I like the first one. It's good, although there is no final resolve. It's part of a cue after all. I don't like to say stuff like this, but it's kinda Elfmanish in it's sound and structure to me. Take it as a compliment. The only thing I would say, is it's either my imagination or it seems to speed up noticeably at around 35 seconds. Maybe a trick of the orchestration.

The second cue is very relaxed sounding to me and doesn't go overboard on the orchestration, thus giving it plenty of breathing room, which I like. Didn't pick up the distortion mind you. Anyway, well done on both. Interesting. You seem to have sorted out your computer system and presumably you are using PC's with Giga?

  • To me it sounds good. Only in the second track the flute at 0:24 sounds like a mixing failure. It sounds like the flute is simply mixed too soft instead of played very softly, if you intended that.

  • I'm still trying to find out what he heck a WIP track is?

    Evan Evans

  • Thanks all, interesting about sounding like elfman, because I don't listen to very much of his music (and I don't consider him to be an influence, but I do like batman [[;)]] ) I wonder... if somehow because I am not classically trained in anyway (like elfman) there are some inherant traits that self training (so to speak) introduces into our compositions? For better or for worse [:D]
I have only 1 out of 3 pc's working at the moment i'm afraid... had some component problems in one pc and the other one had a dented case.

WIP = Work in Progress [[;)]]

  • That´s my job! [:D]

    Walking in paradise?
    Wrong ink pukes?
    Wet incidents pyjama?
    Work in progress?

  • Oh, just missed it...

What did you do? Did you have 3 computers built from scratch? Is this Giga also?

Yes, they were all built from scratch, and all are giga machines. I went for killer pc's in preparation for Giga 3.
