I've got Waves IR1 and now I used AUX to add the reverb effect for every track. One track has an AUX bus with an IR1 Instance. I don't know whether it's right.

Should IRs be used globally or on every track

Usually, you would load one IR-1 into a dedicated FX-bus (and maybe a second in another slot for different settings), which gets its input from an AUX-send of each intrument-channel. The dry/wet-ratio of the IR-1 has to be 100% in this scenario.
Other people like their signals 100% "wet" when it comes to sampling-reverb like the IR-1. In this case, you would insert the plugin in the master-bus.

Hello YWT,
No offense meant, but I get the impression you have bought a tool without a specific need for this tool, or to put it diffferently, your knowledge of mixing, mastering and production is not yet sufficient for using a tool like this.
Don't worry, there are many ways to get your knowledge and toolkit "compatible" [[;)]]
For specific question on using this tool, you can go to the Waves forum, at http://waves.org/6/ubb.x
Furthermore, you need some resources (books, website articles, etc) on mixing (keywords: routing, busses, sends, insert, etc), ambience (keywords: ambience, plugin, reverb, delay, impulse, orchestral, etc) and read, read, read! There is so much information on the web! If you spent some time Googling and bookmarking interesting sites on the web, you will surely learn a lot in a very quick time. I guess a lot of us on this forum have done exactly that to learn about the backgrounds of mixing.
Have you checked all IR1 documentation? The perception of distance can indeed be affected by changing high and low roll-offs, but also by the dry/wet ratio. Then you can also tweak pre-delay, etc... Also remember that the IR1 has a default latency of 11 msec, that is not reported to the host application... (weird "feature").
For effective manipulation of perceived distance, you may want to check out the rather inexpensive Cakewalk FX3 Soundstage plugin, which can be used as an insert plugin on multiple channels.

Peter

As a generell rule of thumb, anything goes as long as it sounds good to your ears, this is the beauty and freedom you have in this domain, there are no rules whether you apply the IR1 on every single track ore on FX 1 and 2 or Master Bus only, it depends on what you want to achieve. I know this is not specifically helpfull, but true!
Experiment a lot, soon you find your personal way around things and dig deeper.
Peace
