    it works flawless on Win2k and XP and chokes on Win98.
    i work on a win98 version (sigh - thought those days were already gone)
    to please 98 users.

    At the Win32 API level Win98 and NT/XP are very similar, in spite of their different heritages.

    you make it sound like you have develop different "versions". How come?

    Is it not possible to implement this tool with only the Win32 API set?
