  • Which Cholakis Pure Space disc and at what rate?

I was curious from those of you using the Cholakis Pure Space impulses, which disc is best for orchestral, band, and film scoring...and is there any reason I won't be happy with 44.1 and 16 bit...as it is the only one I will be able to afford when I purchase Opus? Dietz, I know you use them...might you be kind enough to tell which impulses you are using on which demos?

I know...Film and Sacred is probably good for film score, but are all the good concert halls in the CLassical and Mystical files?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Uhm - probably you will lough but I used only the Sacred Spaces (we didn't buy other sets yet). I don't have real favorites, but I tend to stay in the shorter range of possible IR-lenghts. - And I tweak them according to my taste, that's for sure :-] ... EQ, Compression, Stereo-Width, you name it.

  • if you're doing film work, you probably want to get the 48k IRs, as most film post is done at 48k. i would think that you would want to work at 24bits also, to get the best resolution, and then dither to 16bits after you mix.

i haven't worked with any of these impulses, but have checked them out, so i'm curious too about anyone's first hand experience with them.

it's a pity that you have to buy the 44.1 & 48k ones separately. if you got them both it would be a no brainer for me. when i do demos, i like to do them at 44.1 since they are going on a CD.

  • Thanks for the info...I ordered Film and Sacred..and Ernest Cholakis said he'll let me upgrade to any other rate or bit at anytime...crediting the full original purchase to the higher version. He was extremely helpful and I would recommend doing business with him to anyone.

  • I'll secoind that, I am also considering his library and talked with him, he is a extremly nice chap in deed!

I also find it difficult to dish out twice for 44.1 and 48.... same thought here, CD and Post-pro....

What do you mean he allows you to upgrade, does that mean you pay the difference to the higher only? That would make it a no brainer then....

  • Correct, you only pay the difference in price to step up to the next expensive version.
