  • Oboe and french horn vibrato!!!!

When will the vibrato samples of the oboe and french horn be available!!??
It is a shame they are not yet released since they are VERY basic material! [:'(]

  • I'd rather see a new french oboe, sold seperately please. [H]

Out of curiosity, why was this design decision made in the first place? I mean, it's not really a secret that the french oboe is common and the viennese oboe is not.

The question remains the same, this does not change anything. Why would a library aimed at composers all around THE WHOLE WORLD limit itself in this regard when you know the french oboe is the default instrument in a common orchestral setting?

  • I agree, we don't expect the Vienna SL to be limited to Austrian instruments, especially since Vienna itself has always been an international center for classical music from all over Europe.

  • I would have quite a few dialectically challenging answers at hand - but I'd say the simple truth is that we had to start _somewhere_, and this somewhere was Vienna, ok? - Keep in mind, a library like ours doesn't drop from heaven.

Obviously not. [[;)]] But during discussions on the library's design this issue never came up? I mean, there must be french oboe players in Vienna. [:)]

I can forgive you for including an "oboe" which sounds like a car horn, just hurry up with the French version. [:D]

No - they don't get jobs (hey ... they wouldn't even get educated).

This demands international attention, where's Bush when you need him? [[;)]]

  • just to make some facts clear: the recordings with our french oboe- and french horn player are in progression. he's a soloist, playing concerts all the time, so it's not easy to execute a tight time schedule. we try our very best, and herb will inform you about the release date.
this is all i can tell you guys at the moment, but i assure you, you will be very pleased with the sonic result of our new instruments.

    all the best

Do you mean French Horn or Cor Anglais? A French Horn with vibrato would be as unusable for me as an Oboe without.

Michael, no doubt about that! Hope it does have vibrato though. [;)] Can't wait to hear the results.

  • But...would a new oboe sample be accessible to owners of OPUS 1?

  • One more urgent vote for a French Oboe. Had to hire a real player recently. Would love to use VSL for this. If it is as good as the basson leg - I will be quite pleased.

How will this instrument be distributed (pricing, etc.)

    Rob

  • The DAN DEAN OBOE V3.6 is a perfect substitute for a real french oboe player. 8 velocity layers with and without vibrato. It's gorgeous. Each note non-looped but for like 30 seconds.
