  • Solo Strings Demo

The Solo Strings demo "Rise with the Angels" sounds great. But it seems it wasn't recorded only using the Solo Strings library was it? Or are there woodwinds included in the Solo Strings library?

    I have a few questions:

1-Are there demos available featuring the solo cello from the Solo Strings library?
2- I do not see any system requirements to run this library. Can this library (EXS24 version) be run efficiently on this system: PowerBook Ti G4 867Mhz 768MB Ram, internal 4200 rpm HD, External 7200 rpm 120 GB Firewire HD
3- There is mention of the VSL "performance tool". Is this performance tool included with the Horizon Series Solo Strings library?

    Thanks!

  • welcome TC5,
regarding 2 - this depends on your definition of *efficiently* (how many tracks/instruments are you expecting to have playing/loaded simultaneously) and how much memory is available on your system for streaming (in mac OS 9 this is the unassigned memory) - generally: yes
regarding 3 - after having registered your product you can download the performance tool from the user area, so it is included, but not on the DVD

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.

I have found the solo cello demo etc. ALL the demos sound awesome! The VSL libraries have got to be the best out there. One thing though that is still unclear is which libraries were used for each demo. Some demos indicate "Pro Edition" others don't specify. I don't see any demos that indicate "Horizon Solo Strings". I would definitely like to hear something that features the Solo Strings library exclusively. That's the only way to know exactly what you are buying. i would hate to get the product and find I'm getting less than I was lead to believe...

Also, I have to echo some comments from other posts about the need for some kind of package comparison chart. It's really unclear sometimes as to how the libraries differ from one another.

Otherwise, just an awesome set of sounds.
