  • folders in pro version duplicates?

I just received my vsl pro update and noticed as I was loading the sounds to hard drive that some of the folders had identical names with the exeption of the number that preceed the folder's content names. (Ie. 11 trumpet ensemble 3, and 25 trumpet ensemble 3), (13 horn ensemble 4, and 27 horn ensemble 4). Are the contents of these folders identical and can the older versions be discarded safely, without loosing content?

    thanks,

    Scott

As far as I have been able to discern....yes, they replace everything you already have. Event though it's a little bit of a pain...I think it's amazing that they have refined EVERYTHING! [[:|]]

  • It IS amazing, and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the VSL team for adding such remarkable consistency across all the major instruments. I'm sure they got tired of my whining for .3 and .5 sec samples for the instruments that were missing them in the first edition. [:)]

For the first time, there is a sampled orchestra on the market with consistent available articulations across all the instruments - which is such a plus for being able to orchestrate how you want to.

    Great work!

  • There were several issues, why we released the Pro Edition upgrade as an full release.

    It enables our customers crossgrade.

There are so many instruments of the First Edition which are expanded in the Pro. I thought it's better to have compact and consistent gigfiles instead of add-on gigfiles.

The solobrass instruments are most compatible with the First Edition, there are only new programming variations, like the Keyswitch velocities, and Release Samples for the flatter tongues.

    An exception (and a hint):

We prepared an extra ff layer for the solotrumpet.
I think it's for the staccatos and sustains.
These samples are only mapped in the keyswitch-velocity mappings.

    best wishes
