    Hi everyone. As any of you regulars will know I'm just getting into this orchestral composition scene and am desperately trying to get feedback on my work - i've had some but the more the merrier - if I am ever going to improve....

    As music is just a hobby and i've not, nor plan to have any full time musical education (I work in IT and have bills to pay!) I'd like to know what's the best way to get feedback? Are there other sites out there on the Internet that are suitable for gaining constructive criticism on my work?

    My website has a feedback page for my music but no-one has given any and I know people have d/l some of them. Help Please!

    I am also keen to share tips with others and am hoping to evolve my web site in the near future to cover ideas on mixing, postpro, composition etc etc. This would be aimed at newcomers as I've personally not found a site that describes consolodated information on all these areas.

    Does this seem like a good idea? Or has it been done before?

    It has many of your ideas implemented and generally a good place to get info and feedback. Maybe King or someone here can reccomend a pure midi composers site.

    not for orchestral music. There really isn't one. There's related sites and such, but there's no real MIDI Mockupper site.

    Thanks - I've visited NS and already had some good responses.

    Sounds like it may be worth setting up some MIDI mockups with MP3s to demonstrate orchestral technique. Herb has already provided some on this site for VSL. Would anyone (i.e. all you excellent user demo contributors - or anyone else really) be interested in providing some short multi-instrument parts showing things like - here's how a violin/horn can be used to create a romantic mood, or horns/other brass and cellos to create excitement/pace etc etc.

    I'm thinking of putting something together in that vein but I really need you guys help - its way beyond me at the moment.

    there are so many examples of this already created, real orchestra and midi that there is no need to do this. It is a matter of listening and understanding what you are listening to. As mentioned on NS, a private teacher might be the direct route for you to take to start hearing things that go beyond your current knowledge base.
