  • What are "Boa bams"?

I couldn't find anything about this instrument (wether in the "NewGrove of Musical Instruments" nor on the internet).... so what is it?

    Thank you for suggestions,

    Lorenz

  • Hi Lorenz,

Boa Bams is unfortunately the wrong word we used in our library. The correct word is BooBams (or Boobams), because the instrument is made of bamboo.
I think you can find now a lot of information ...

    Try this link:

but don't listen to the sample [[;)]]

    Greetings,

  • hi lorenz,

we'll feature the boobams in Instruments Online, but as there are so many percussion instruments waiting for us, this will take some time [:D]
in the meantime you might want to try out these links for basic information and some fotos:

If you want to hear boobams put into action in a quite unusual conext, then listen to what Bill Bruford did with them on the '81 and '82 King Crimson records Discipline and Beat.
