  • VST Performance Tool

Not sure if this has been mentioned before. But would it be possible to have a VST version of the Alternation/Legato tools. This would be useful for Cubase and Sonar users plus others I guess and would simplify the interface considerably.

    Cheers

  • hello tim,
to make the alternation-/performance-tool a VST would not be very helpful, because AFAIK then you cannot route midi to gigastudio. this would then need a complete sampling-application behind the tool.
maybe in future versions of the library it will be possible to use an engine which works as a plugin and integrate the tool as a plugin.

  • I'm an audio developer and I've built some VST tools for writing music on the PS/2 (it grabbed your VST sequencer midi and piped it over ethernet to my PS/2 synth.) Anyway, if VSl is looking for grassroots dev support, I would be very interested in helping code it up.

  • there are possible future options for VST [[:)]]

but still VST itself can be problematic,

what needs to be created are MFX plugs and a possible VST-MFX Plug in player [[:)]]

Or we can make multiple plug ins for multiple formats, but thats not very convenient for the VSL guys [;)]

  • bluedane, thanks for your offer - i'll forward it to our programming-team

  • If one has GIGA version of VSL, and its later made as GIGA 3.0, Kontakt, EXS (as planned) or another format... would one have to buy the new version if one was interested in that format?

  • i'm convinced any gigastudio2.0-file will be readable by GS3, even if it might come with a new fileformat, so your instruments will keep all their functionality.
currently the exs-releases cost a lot of work and time (filenames, mapping-issues, other type of database, ect) so sidegrading cannot be for free.
if that changes in future versions or further platforms at least some administrative costs have to be covered, but currently this is neither decided nor calculated.
anyway, VIP is not meant as a slogan, but as what it is: the vienna innovation program to secure your investment in the library and offer upgrades without the need to pay twice for something.
