    I was reading through the summary of updates in the pro edition and am unclear on what dynamics will be covered for the perf leg. strings. I had understood previously that all dynamics from p-ff would be covered. Is this the case?? If not, when will the complete dynamics be covered?

    Hello Colin,

    the Pro Edition will offer a new perf-leg_f set.
    Here the intervall steps are played on different strings, so the sound of this instrument will be brighter.

    Generally we didn't plan to produce more velocity variations for the string ensembles.
    For the EXS version we layered the piano and forte version using crossfade layers, which works really great. When Gigastudio 3.0 is available we'll support of course this new mappings possibilities.

    Generally we'll concentrate in our developement on more different playingstyles.
    The upcoming soloviolin will give you a little overview about these possibilities. Here we produced performance detaches, and performance spiccato. It's the same concept as the legati, only different articulations.

    For the Violin ensemble we also recorded performance tremoli - intervall changes during tremolo playing; and performance glissandi.

    Also new are the performance-legati with sordino.

    I love the perf legato strings, but would really use at least a mf dynamic layer in addition to the p and f. Is there any possiblilty you will record this in the future??

    I'd have to second that. I'd use the mf twice as often as the p or f.

    Maybe when the divisi section recordings come up it could be recorded for them as well? Then for the full sections later?

    Can we have more explanations about this new technic or we will have more informations later with the release of the PRO Edition ?

    I think once Xfading becomes available in a later version of Giga, things may change.

    As well Herb's right all the performance variations may help aleviate the need for so many dynamics. Not to mention what else they'll do in the future which has me pumped up like ah-nold (no disrespect to our lovely hosts here [:D] )

    Still technology is really pusing forward, I already have so many new ideas for sampling techniques and playback options/programming its not even funny. The funny thing is,only VSL will have so much of a complete sample set, that jsut about ANY programming option in the future will be able to be done with this lib.

    I cant find myself saying "well if they only sampled it like this" in the future [:)]
