    My apologies, I am sure this has been asked before. But for some reason I can't find any of the threads. Perhaps others with more familiarity of where these threads are could point them out. [:)] I want to make sure before making such a substantial purchase.

    How useable is VSL on one new PC system (which I'm currently building) under Windows XP, running a sequencer and gigastudio at the same time? I'm not looking to simulate a full, large orchestra at once. But I would like to be able to load multiple instruments and articulations. Will I be able to do it on one pc? I know it is optimal to run VSL on multiple machines, but right now I can't get one pc with the sequencer and another to run gigastudio/vsl. Any thoughts and help on the matter is most welcomed. Thank you.

    If you have an economic workflow, it is not a problem to work with one engine.
    The structure of our library is very flexible.
    You have small basic-setups, where the most important articulations are mapped.
    Basic instruments, without any keyswitches, so you can load exactly the articulation you need, and so on.

    If you don't mix direct in Gigastudio, you normaly export the instruments as wavfiles. That's my personal workflow. Here I have the option to load only the gigfiles for this instrument, which I want to export, and if there are any notes which should be replaced, I have enough Ram to load missing gigfiles for these instrument. It's really hard to run out of Ram with one instrument - it never happened to me.

    But even if you don't want to export wavfiles, you can work pretty econmic with one engine. Maarten Spruijt's demos were simply done on one engine, as far as I'm informed.

    A good example are Matthias Günthert's demos.
    These demos werde done on two engines.

    Thank you for the reply, Herb. Congratulations to you and the VSL team. One of the greatest benefits to VSL in my opinion are these great community forums and instrument studies. I think it adds to the overall value of the package.

    Matthias Battle demo is actually one of the demos to sell me on VSL. But of course, all the demos up on the site sound fantastic. [:)]
