Hello Mike,
These are my repetition settings if I want to programm triplets
(using rep9 files)
for2x3 triplets + finalnote
1:1:0:1:1:1:0:1:1
or
1:0:1:1:1:0:1:1:1
for longer repetitions I tend to use as starting note a simple singlenote staccato or 0'3s note and combine it with the following repetition.
0:0:1:1:1:0:1:1:1
or
0:1:0:1:1:1:0:1:1
Most important to get triple feeling is the groove/timing and the accents.
Sometimes it's good to have longer notes for the accents, here I'm also combining single notes with the repetitions.
setup for the repetitions:
0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1:1
You could also select two repetitions out of the middle, but maybe you have to adjust the auto off time, to be short enough not triggering a third note.
Another solution for longer triple reps is again combining it with single notes and setup the tool this way:
0:1:1:1:1:1:1:1:1
The combinantion should be work like this
stac1 - rep2 - rep3 - stac - rep4 - rep5 -stac - rep6 - rep7 - stac - rep8 - rep9
If you use stac1+1 combination with the alternation tool, you have also more random effect on the accents.
I also would suggest, if you combine it with single notes, play your repetition phrase first only with single notes, an afterwards split it between
repetition track and single note track.
Of course the delay offset of the miditrack should be correct to work in right timing with the repetition track. Sometime it helps (for lousy keyboardplayers like me), to set this offset a little "Off" and so I get the right shuffle rhythm.
I hope this explanation was not to confuse, so if you have further questions...
best wishes
Herb
