  • Longer legato notes

    Hi Herb,

I tried to mockup "Adagio for String" (Barber) but I don't have enough long notes to play all values. The sound stops before the end of the note.

How can I have longer legato ? Can I use a legato patch (Performance Set) with a sustain patch (Orchestral Cube) ?

    Thank you,

  • I too would like longer notes but I understand why we don't (can't) have them (yet). [:)]

I use the sustain pedal with the perf legatos and re-strike the note. It works very well. It's a little counter-intutitive but I have gotten quite good at it. I have also faded the long notes x-fade patches into the sustaining note on a second pass. That also works well with a bit of pratice.

    Happy sustaining!

    Hi guys,

You might find this thread interesting.....

  • looping the legatos might result in looping artifacts [:)] some of them aren't long enough to not get cyclical.

I'd suggest layering the long notes/sustain Xfade/layer variations in and possible adjusting the attack to be a bit slower.

You could get somethign like this to work in realtime if you use Marble Tools in front of the performance tool.

I've jsut rebuilt my main VSL machine, so I'll get into some art files and tweaking on loop ideas to get more of a detailed idea of what could be done.
