  • Performance Tool slow ?

I have a little problem : I have Sonar XL 2.2 and Gigastudio 2.53 ... When I play some files with all channels on "THRU" in the Performance tool, the sounds don't play at the same time ... I have a decay ! So, I try the same file without the Performance tool, directly on GS and all is perfect !

    I don't know why ...

  • ...............

  • decay or delay?

    it shouldn't happen this way

same machine? waht MIDI routing driver?

  • I have a decay ... for example, I have strings and woodwinds ... some brass ... synth and some percussions .... all is ok BUT G-Town stomps decay !!!

If I put it solo ... no problem ... with 2-3 instruments ... no problem ... full orchestra .... problem !!

  • I was working on a piece, and I was getting note dropouts. I had not even gotten close to maxing my poly count. At least the legato feature works now. It's pretty good.

  • I know this tip [:)] My problem is that I have a decay between midi tracks if I put the first input on "none" and use the Performance Tool ... if I use giga directly on my midi input I don't have any problem

  • Syquest, I'm little confused, sorry.

First do you use Sequenzer and Gigastudio on one engine?

Are there still problems when you switch each channel to thru, or only if you use too much performance plugins simultan?

However, I will make some latency test on my system and keep you informed.

  • Hi Herb,

    1) My sequencer and my gigastudio are NOT on the same computer

    2) I have problem when all channels are on "Thru"

    Thank you,

  • Hello SyQuest,

I just did a hardcore latency test:

I generated 1 spike sample instrument and placed it on two midichannels (10, 11) playing the spike at the same time.

I did following sequences and captured them seperatly with gigastudio and anlyzed it afterwards in wavelab.

    1) no performance tool
    2) performance tool all thru
    3) 4 performance legato instruments playing random (16th at 120 BPM)
    4) 8 performance legato instruments playing random (16th at 120 BPM)
    5) 8 performance legato instruments and 4 repetition instruments (each 3 voices poly)
    6) same as 5 plus random modwheel controllers on all tracks
    7) same as 5 plus random modwheel and pitchbend controllers an all tracks.

All results were equal - no latency or no decay. (measuring for 0.1 ms)

I was a little surprised that my midisetup is in general so stable, so I did a last check and placed the two spikes with a delay of quarter note. I got 2 amplitudes in the right timing each amplitude half the size of the previous tests.
(I just wanted to find out, if both spikes were really triggered the tests before)

    My setup:
sequenzer pc with cubase vst 5.1, rme digi 96, midi interface emagic amt8
gigastudio pc with delta 1010 using the single midi in port on delta 1010.

    Herb

  • herb he's not getting latency problems, what seems to be happening is he's getting note off's sent when he doesn't want them to be sent. Or something to that fact.

  • In fact, the problem is very strange : it's not the VSL patches but others ... For example, in one of my celtic dance I play strings ... no problem ... percussion ... no problem .... togerther .... I have a delay with the G-Town Stomps ...

Only with the VSL Tool 'cause when I use giga directly on the midi input I don't have this bug.
