    VSL Team: I know it isn't planned for the Pro Edition, but can we expect to see 'con sordino' brass by Symphonic Cube 1? More than one type? Horns in particular have a number of muted effects which is why I ask.

    I too would definitely like to see some brass mutes for all brass. They are used quite a bit in both film and classical music these days.

    I agree! What I'd like to see:

    Trumpets: Straight Mutes; Cup Mutes; Harmon with & without stem; Solotone mute; Plunger with & without growl

    Trombones: same as trumpets

    Fr Horns: fiber mute; metal mute; stopped

    The endless world of cups and mutes.

    We didn't forget it, it was again the big question, where to start.
    Fact is, if you put a cup on a brass instrument you get a "new" instrument. I think everyone agree, that it would be a disappointement if we only record common staccatos and sustains. (for VSL standards)

    So your input is welcome: what is more important for you -
    ensembles or soloinstruments,
    normal multisamples,
    performance legati - repetitions - grace,
    dynamics,
    or also trills and flatters,
    trombone glissandi,
    upbeats?

    I think it was a very good idea to set up a poll for this, since I believe threre are as many preferences at articulations as we have users - or even more [:)]. Let the majority decide these "specials". My vote for a poll.

    Yes, a poll would be nice.

    And I'm glad you want these done right Herb, instead of an incomplete offering. It'll be worth the wait.

    Dynamics and "special dynamics" will be very important with the muted brass as this really shows off the character of the mutes. And lets not forget wood ball mute for horn and fiber mute for tuba just to be complete... [:)]

    Herb, I would have a priority like this for muted brass:

    Ensembles:
    - Perf. Legato
    - Perf. grace
    - Normal multisamples
    - Upbeats
    - Trills, flutters
    - Glissandi
    - Repetitions

    After that, solo instruments in the same order. For some special articulations like this, I don't believe trills and glissandi are very important. You could argue for repetitions, but it hasn't done much for me yet. I don't think you NEED to do every single recording for all instruments you do - I know, it would be nice to have that extreme standard all the way through, but I think there is room for some priorities that could bring your recording session number down and make room for more important recordings.

    everyonce in a while, when reading these posts, I feel incredibly bad for Herb and the VSL team.....and all the work they have to do. I would hate to be in their shoes man
