  • Some Questions

I just got my Demo Cube. The legato tool is exactly what I've always wanted but missed in every library. (GOS's Slides Toolbox just wasn't enough. Yet I still got a few questions:

    1. Why is there no solo viola and bass even in the pro edition? I understand that those two instruments are rarely soloed in an orchestra performance, but I do need them for a complete quartet.

    2. There are only 2 velocity layers for the VC-8_mV-perf-leg_f_demo.gig in the Demo Cube. Will there be more velocity layers in an official gig file?

    3. In GOS we can use the MOD wheel to do a crossfade between differenct velocity layers, thus to acheive a nice crescendo or diminuendo very easily. I've noticed that there are only "fixed time" crescendo and diminuendo patches in VSL. What should I do if I want a crescendo in different length?

    Best Regards,

  • Arys,

There are some Xfade variations of the sustain instruments. I'll also, probably, make my own tweaks and variations, and make them available as art files. The pro version will probably have even MORE variations, since there should be more to work with in giga 3.0 (you should see what these guys milk out of 2.5, I though I was a power programmer/user....not so anymore)

There are varying degrees of dynamics sampled. Some have 3, some 2...etc. It depends on the type of sample, whether its performance, dynamic, multi. I believe there will be mor added in the pro version as well.

As for the solos, I believe they have a set schedule, and some things have to take a backseat for a small amount of time. I dont think they find these instruments useless....far from it, its jsut you have to remember these guys are sampling a TON of stuff. A couple people calculated that it would take 23x the amount of time for each sustain instrument, just for the llegato alone. Some things have to give at first. I would wager that these instruments will get sampled at some point.
