  • playing staccato

    the main problem that always occur when playing repeate notes is that there is often a lack of different sound available.Even with 2 different attacks, the sound is not realistic, with 6 or 10 different staccato, the feeling will be more human.
    I didn't remember if there is a passage in you demos where we can hear some fast staccato strings or horns playing the same note repeated.
    Perhaps it could be something that the MIDI-Performance-Tools could handle. when the same note is repeated fast, it would choose a different sample for each same note (let say, amoung 8 possibilities) so that the feeling would be hyper natural (For me, it would be a real add-on)

    What you described is what you will get. Instant access to every single note of a repetition (be it staccato, portato or legato), AND playing these repetitions in real-time. Every note sounds different in a repetition, and with our Performance Tool and our mapping system you not only have different single notes but also the "connectors" between the different notes.

    Basically this is the same system as with the Performance Legato, the ambience of the preceeding note is the beginning of the following note, and the Performance Tool does the switching from note to note for you.
    No more machinegun-effects....

  • In the orchestral cube, I think there's a total of 40 or 50 per note if you count them ALL, including the different speeds.

    if you want to "Simplify" it [[:)]] its about 8 or 9 per note using the performance tools. This is the "easy" way of going about it, sticking to basic step writing/realtime playing. As well as only sticking to one speed of short attacks.

    You can do more with some program changes or additional MIDI track, or other traditional "sequencing tricks" to get more,...why you'd need more...is beyond me.

    BTW thats only Stacatto, not including spicatto or the other variations of attacks you get. [[:)]]

    believe me, there is mor than enough to go without ever getting the machine gun effect with this sucker.

    Its even more of a plus if you've worked with other libraries before, all the old tricks you did to get away from this add even more options to this already varied library.

  • Just to avoid confusion:

    In the Orchestral Cube you´´ll find single notes, with and without dynamic changes, plus trills and tremolos. For every short note we recorded 2 variations in every dynamic layer.

    The Performance Set offers intelligently mapped instruments, and with the Performance Tool there´s nothing in your way, if you want to play real legato in real-time AND there´s the Performance Repetitions: Repetitions recorded in staccato, portato and legato, in different tempos and in different dynamics (including crescendo and diminuendo, of course), depending on the instrument. With the Performance Tool every single tone of these Performance Repetitions is on your fingertipps, as the Performance Tool switches from tone to tone for you, so play repetitions in your tempo and with your phrasing and with your dynamic changes and and and...

    Concerning numbers: This always depends on the instrument: a tuba cannot play very fast repetitions, a trumpet can... and as our last counting-session ended in 110.000 Samples for the Performance Set, please forgive me, if I let you do the counting for all the instruments for the staccato yourself [[;)]] !
