  • Getting Vienna ASAP

I waiting for the release of the Vienna library, but the thing is I need it now, as I have a due date Nov. 30 for a very serious commissioned piece. Without your sound, it is just impossible to release. I am a Mac user: Dual 1.25 GHz G4, 2 GB ram, 480 GB hard drive, and Audiophile 2496 sound card. I also have a Kurzweil 2500X keyboard.
I need someone to tell me straight...What is the best sampler that the Vienna library supports? Please--no ifs. All I need is great sound that can come into my composition. I don't really care about sound tweaking--I'm a pure classical orchestral composer.

    Thank you,

    Impatient

  • The best sampler for support would be Gigastudio.

ILIO will not issue a pre-release version. It comes out in December (but for some reason, a date has not been listed).

Gigastudio only works on a PC (windows). There is no MAC version for Giga.

  • Impatient (what a name..., I bet you are!),
I'm really sorry that we cannot comply with your deadline requirements. We need some more days to re-check everything so that there won't be any bugs in the library or in the mapping. I'm terribly sorry, as you might imagine we all are very exited about the upcoming first release after over two years of developing and producing. But quality is our ultimate goal, so I think we'll ship in the second week of December.

Regarding the "best" sampler, it depends on what you need and what you like. We don't recommend a sampler platform at the moment. Our Giga version will be the first to be released. We'll release the EXS24 version some weeks later, and at the moment we only have a beta of the new EXS24 mk II so we can't tell you about any pros and cons. Obviously, if you want to run a dedicated PC your choice is GigaStudio, if you'd rather want to have it on the Mac your choice shoud be Logic + EXS24 mk II.
