  • AIR FORCE DEMO

    Hello

Today I am making my orchestral music with a Virtuoso 2000 ! Does not need a BIG computer !

I am thinking to go to VSL ! are the French Horns as good as in SAM library ?

What power of computer (MAC+Logic Platinium+ESX24MKII) can play the AIR Force demo.

Question about the Air Force demo :
    - How many midi tracks
    - How many smultaneous instrument
    - Can I have the midi file ?

    Best

    Cyril

  • Hi Cyril!

There will be more demos after the NAMM-Show in L.A. and we will provide you with the MIDI-Files.
The MIDI-Files for Air Force One simply wouldn´t make sense without the Performance Tools.

  • Pardon my French, but HOLY SHIT. I haven't heard that demo before.

Did Jerry help you with this? This only goes to show that in the right hands this library will be able to do anything.

  • We were given the original score of "The Parachutes" (aka Air Force One Main Theme) - so if this is what you call a helping hand, then we had one [;)].

I might add that obviously many of our demos were programmed before the Tools were done (the very early ones even assembled manually for testing purposes), so there ain't always MIDI-files that would make sense with the now delivered Library.

You are "entrain de tourner autour du pot" (french expression)
You did not answer to my questions !

What tools are you speaking about ?

    Thanks

    Cyril

  • Sorry for the confusion. I'm talking about the MIDI-Performance-Tools we developed for the use with our Library.

    Sacre merde! [:O]

  • Hello

I was loking for some information on the "midi performance tools" I did not find it on your site.

Can you answer to my other questions :

What power of computer do I need to play the AIR Force demo. (MAC+Logic Platinium+ESX24MKII)

Question about the Air Force demo :
    - How many midi tracks
    - How many smultaneous instrument

  • The Performance Tool plus manual will be downloadable (for registered users) on Monday.

    Miditracks for Airforce One (shortly):

    12 Miditracks for the woodwinds
    18 for Brass
    14 Strings
    10 Percussion and Timpanis

Loading all needed instruments at once will take 3 Gig of Ram.
But its important to know, that realising a printed score allows very effective working (especially you know the library well).
So you have not to search and test, you just load exactly the samples you need.
If you are composing directly into the Sequenzer you will need probably more ressources. At the end you can optimize your setup of course.

Best way is to work it out with our Basic Sets and Performance Legato Instruments, than load further variations when you need them (like dynamic samples or performance repetitions)

If there are any instruments which have solo function I would suggest to capture a playback of the orchestra, and than focus on these soloinstruments.

For Airforce One my workflow was, to programm the Percussion, than concentrated on the brass.
When I saw that it worked I made a playback with strings, percussion, woodwinds and in a second step the fine tuning of the brass instruments.

If your workflow is effective it should be possible to realize such a mockup with one engine only using 1GB Ram.
The more Ram power or engines you have the faster you can work of course.

    hope this helps
    Herb

  • Herb,

<Loading all needed instruments at once will take 3 Gig of Ram.>

    I do have 4 dedicated Gigastudio ( 1 XP-1GB RAM & 3 W98- 750 MB RAM) and 1 Dual G4 1.25 MH (the noisy one… [:'(] ) with 1 GB RAM. Here is my question:

Do you mean loading all at once in the ESXMKll. As far as I am informed my Mac will only be able to swallow 2 GB of RAM. But would it be possible to load all in my Gigastudio machines with some help of the ESXMKII on the MAC G4.

Or even another question: how much RAM is necessary to load the whole thing. As an example for Garritan Strings I do need 2 of my Giga Computers.

This is only an informative question in order to know what I can expect when I will buy the library, which I will do as soon as I did hear some convincing user demos.

<The more Ram power or engines you have the faster you can work of course.>

Herb, of course this is surely very thru for you, but I think it is important to mention that the more machines, soundcards and other stuff one has at disposition, the more it gets complicated to make things all work together and quite some knowledge in order to not end up whit an absolute unusable configuration. Advice to start with a simple setup seems a wise thing to do for me. Or hire a personal technician [[;)]] .
