  • Open Strings

Both the bottom G and C on the Performance Set Solo Violin & Solo Cello have vibrato. These (as you know) have to be open strings, so does it mean you haven't recorded these notes - I thought that every semitone was recorded for the Perf Set instruments?

I think it's really important to have especially these open strings and it would be good to have the option of all of the open strings.

    What do you think Herb?

  • Are there any cracking squeak noises on those samples? If so, that would be the famous tuning peg vibrato technique... [:P]

  • Andy has raised an interesting issue here.

In addition to open strings, what about the duplicate notes that one can obviously achieve by moving up the fingerboard. (for example "sul G")

Will there be options for these nuances in tone?

    Regards - Colin

  • Yes it would be great to have some open string violin D, A and E samples [:D] (and of course sul-G, and for that matter sul-D etc. - and there's a huge difference in tone for a cello sul-D instead of using the A-string... a lot of sampling to do there [[;)]] ) - I actually think the bottom G (violin) and bottom C (cello and viola) are all open strings on the samples - there are beats resulting from slight tuning differences, this gives a vibrato-like impression, but they sound realistically like the open string to me. Anyway, I'm sure Herb can clear that query up [:)]
    All the best,
