  • A cheap small version of vienna?

    hello to all,

i'm very surprised about the quality of this libary. i use the peter siedlaczek libary, but i see this libary is not as good as the vienna.

i'm a big friend of orchestral music and make some music at home with this sample libary and i know, i need this libary, because i already love the sound of vienna - it is a dream.

i downloaded all the demos of this site and ordered the demo cd and the demo cube, but that's it. i have not enough money to buy this libary in the next time, because i go still to school and have less money.

that is why i want to know, if a smaller compact edition is planned in future like the compact edition of peter siedlaczek's libary or the mini of mirouslav vitous

i hope it, but sometime - and i'm shure - i will buy this dream of orchestral sound.

  • I'm sorry to inform you that no smaller version of the Vienna Symphonic Library is scheduled. In fact, the First Edition will be the smallest and cheapest of all Editions, with the Pro Edition moving to a higher price level.
    All the best,
    Martin

  • Why are you going to discontinue the 16-bit versions after the Pro edition? I personally won't be ready to purchase the library until late next year but by then I'll have to pay over $1000 more just to get anything. I'd rather buy the 16-bit edition next year, but by then it will be discontinued. I hope you reconsider this.

  • I agree with Peter, please keep in mind that some people don't want to deal with 24bit audio right now, especialy with Logic Audio and the amount of memory it would take. (I don't use the streaming option for EXS 24 because it takes a lot of CPU)

  • And does Giga even support 24-bit except with GSIF? I use an SB Live and on top of everything else don't want to have to buy a new sound card ($500) for this.

I really think the prices on the libraries are quite good and reasonable - but discontinuing the 16-bit version throws a wrench in all of that unless we buy right away.
