When my string bank comes up, I see the KB I loaded in 'loaded instruments' but the channel only reads 'Basic instruments' and if I click on the specific KB sound I want, nothing happens! I then must unload the selected samples and reload KB for it to be recognized. Why doesn't it recognize it in the first place with my prebuilt preset?

Loaded instruments not accesible!

grifmx, the descriptive term *basic instruments* or *basic combinations* (written in capital letters) is just something like a *headline* not containing any samples - expand the respective gigfile or loaded instrument and select one of the articulations below.
hint: you can save RAM if you expand the gigfile first and then load only selected articulations instead the whole instrument

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds. -
I understand about the heading. But how come even when I select an exact articulation below the heading and save my Giga setup, the next time I open it, it comes back only with the heading. Once it opens up this way, selecting ANY articulation in 'loaded instruments' won't be recognized until I delete those files and reload them. Out of the whole library it seems to only be happening with the Celli and Contra Bass samples.
Also, I have been only loading whole instruments. What do you mean 'expand' the instrument to only see specific articulations to load???

In the right window where you can click and drag the invididual gig files, there's a + in front of each of them. Click it and the gig file will expand, you can then drag individual patches to load them seperately.
