Hi to everybody! I'm almost there(almost bought the VSL Perf Set). I'm only concerned whether my system is powerul enough to make me happy using VSL. I've got a G4 733, over 900 mb RAM, internal hd+ FireWire hd- big 'uns. I use Logic Pl 5.5, EXS, Protools 24 Mix, Apogee Trak 2. I produce pop music so my use of orchestra isn't that heavy. It's supposed to be like a spice, add a bit of mood and space. Would that be enough info for you, dear VSLoholics, to shed some light on a subject? [*-)]

Have I got power?

It should be okay, but really the only way to figure out how many voices you can get is to try it out and see. I would have thought a G4/733 would have enough power to run a bunch of EXSs, and your hard drives are the same as anyone else's. One question is whether the Firewire implementation is solid; it wasn't early on, and I think your machine is only the second generation of FW. If that'sa problem, just use internal IDE and/or SCSI in addition to FW.
Memory for those machines is cheap (512MB for about $50), so you might find it worth filling your machine up to 1.5GB.
Finally, Logic does uses dual processors very well in my opinion, running screens and MIDI on one processor and audio on the other (unless you resort to trickery to change the scheme). That means it doesn't slow down under heavy loads. I'm not sure how that affects your single-processor machine.
