Repetitions with the Alternating Tool

Just wondering for any users out there who have both the Performance set and Cube whether you can still get effective fast string reptitions from using the Alternating tool. I guess I'm tossing up between the performance set and the String Pro section - can't buy it all at once at the moment. I'm sure Herb and VSL wouldn't have gone to so much trouble with the Repetition tool if the Alternating tool worked nearly as well. But I'd appreciate any feedback.

I do realise there are only two variations to alternate between, rather than the actual sets of repetitions in the Performance set. Craig

Hi Craig,

I generally use the alternation tool for fast reps. If I have more time to program I may use the rep tool but the alternation tool is my staple for fast reps.

Do you think the alternating tool and the string variation samples in particular could handle 16th notes at a 190 tempo - a Rossini-like final without sounding like a machine gun? I guess I like the look of the ease of the Alternating tool compared to the Repetition tool.

I wonder whether by having more alternate samples, say four, which SAM horns has, might be a more time efficient way of dealing with repetitions, with an option of making the choice random. Maybe Herb has some thoughts.

I would not know untill I tried it. I just did a small semi knock off of the Copeland's "Hoe Down" for a cartoon, and it sounded pretty good (even got mentioned in my return notes on sounding good), and if i had bothered to tweak a little it would have been right there. It can get pretty fast and convincing.
