  • Vivaldi-4 Seasons-Summer Presto;(Advice Please? Mr. Beat K?)

I've just finished this, and I'd like to know if it sounds too "machine-gun"-like. I used Solo Strings (std ed) with staccato, perf legato fast, and short detache on each instrument - 3 violins, viola, cello, and bass. I don't have special keyboards yet, and I don't think you'd want to hear the demo with the marimba stand-in [:D] ...so just the strings will have to do for now.

Let me know what you think, or if there are better articulations that I should use, etc. Thanks.

  • Hi Ben

    Congratulations!

There is nothing more to say. You did a very good job with your "sample-possibilities".

    Nice accents!

Perhaps you can still try to optimize it but from now on it is a question of time and profit.

You want to have an advice...?[:)]

    1. Sometimes you have 8 times (or more?) the same tone in line (0:00 - 0:10). That would be a case for repetition articulations - which you don't have...I know.

Try to vary the level even more than now (between all these equal single notes). Don't forget: This is valid for the orchestra instruments as well. You can do this in a random way except for the starting notes which should be played as accents (as you did it).

    2. There are runs from low to high (around 0:25) They should have a bit more crisp at their starts in the low registers.

Chose the sfz articulation for the run start and while it plays select the legato articulation.

Your Run starts now with sfz and moves directly into the legato with the second tone...

    But as mentioned:

You can still try to optimize it - but it is a question of time and profit.
