  • MBP New LED 2.2 Special Editiion and Logic? or...Inertal HD

Just wondering about a few things.
First, there is a interest in me getting the SE, and wondering how it fairs to EQLSO.

I have the older PLATNIUM version and GOLD for the PC, from what I understand NO version exists yet for INTEL macs.

Am also wondering if a external FW drive 800 is fast enough, or to se a aSATA drive, which seems to be very quick?

Thanks and would appreciate the help! It would be mostly used for trailer work.

Also interested in knowing what VSL has in terns of FX Extreme (Sound Design).
    Thanks.

Here is a link to the aSata EXPRESS card with a RAID set up.

  • welcome frankii,
whereas usually an external harddisk connected via FW800 is considered to be fast enough your post indicates you are intending to run SE on a macbookPro ... now mostly these would be connected to an audio device also using firewire ...

i can not recommend to connect both devices through the single bus/controller. though some audio devices allow this.

the link you provided shows just another PCIexpress34 sATA adapter connected to some dual disk external enclosure - i can't see something from a RAID (which wouldn't be really needed btw) ...
the site generally seems a little bit, let's call it, ostentatious to me, eg. what does mean *FW400 has poor write-performance* ... FW400 provides a throughput x times of what any drive could write ... FW800 will not give you better numbers with the same drive - in fact and generally firewire just puts more load on a CPU than sATA, that's it ...
