  • RAM Usage of Universal presets - Orchestral Strings I+II

I am a perspective buyer of the Orchestral Strings I+II libraries, more than likely just the Standard Editions.

I've done my best to scour the forums looking for an answer to my question but have come up short. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what the RAM requirements are to load a Unvervisal instance of the Violins, Violas, Cellos and Basses.

I'm just curious has to how much RAM each section would require.

  • Universal mode is not in the Standard, only Extended.

  • Well, that puts a little damper in my plans! I obviously haven't done as much research as I would like to think. [:)]

Barring that, is it still possible for some users to provide the RAM requirements of the Violins, Violas, Cellos and Basses as loaded in Universal mode? I'm just curious as to what the average size might be. I almost wish I could test drive the libraries for a week and see how it performs, what the flaws are, what the benefits are, etc.

  • Don't sweat it. I haven't used Universal mode for well over a year. You will find that setting up your own matrices is far more efficient, both in terms of workflow and also RAM usage. FWIW my Strings template is around 2.6GB, and this is mostly Orchestral Stings with a few Chamber matrices and legato Appassionata.
