  • Dynamics in Appasionata

    Hello,

I recently purchased Appasionata and I am very pleased with the epic sound of all of the strings. Today I was adding a decrescendo articulation (4 sec) and was wondering if there is a way to control the time of the decrescendo? I would like it to fade a little slower, not meaning to extend the 4 sec rule though.

    Thankyou,

  • Hi there. You can use CC7 (volume) or CC11 (expression) commands to add fades and swells, but even so it might be difficult to alter the natural dynamic of a decrescendo in the way you described. An alternative approach would be to load a 5s decrescendo (if AS has them) and use CC11 to 'chase the fade'. If that sounds unnatural, try applying a CC11 fade to sustain samples.

did you check out the Velocity Xfade feature yet?

Please have a look at our Video Tutorials, this might be exactly what you´re looking for [:)]

O.T. I was just watching the tutorials and VI looks sooo good! [H]

P.S. That's coming from a guy who's not too happy about samples being locked BTW. [[;)]]

  • Yes Paul,

Veocity fades is a good idea. What I was going for here is to make the whole string section fade together so doing Vel fades will work but I would have to do them all the same. I'll give it a try.

    Thanks
