  • What Altiverb hall matches closest to EWQLSO to blend VSL?

Specifically: I have EWQLSO Platinum Pro XP and just bought Appassionata Strings for my big sweeping lines. Has anyone found an Altiverb hall that they think gets close to the one used in the QLSO? I searched the board, but couldn't find this specific question answered. Thanks!

  • I've had some luck using the Sydney Opera House (6m, 12m stereo cardioids) with my VI stuff, and adding in a few EWQLSO instruments, and they blended really well.

  • Thanks for the reply Kerry!

As an alternative approach you migh also consider high quality IRs from Lexicon and TCE reverb units (or others). My personal impression with "real hall spaces" is that they often are too much "contaminated" with the choice of speakers used, microphones, positions, etc. In short, real space IRs are not optimal representations of the halls they claim to have captured.

I know, this is of course a plug for my own IRs, but honestly, until now, I have hardly heard a really convincing "real hall" IR set...

Sorry for the side-step, best regards,

    Peter
