  • SE 'Legato with sustain crossfading' patches?

Hey all - what's the thinking behind the 'Legato with sustain crossfading' patches in Special Edition? So far they sound the same as the regular legatos to me, am I missing something?

  • These patches offers looped sustains.
This works for legato passages with long notes, especially usefull for instruments where the legato samples are rather short.
(piccolo trumpet, tenor trombone for example)

The original performance legato samples do have more espressive character than these looped sustains.
So I would use the 'Legato with sustain crossfading' exclusively, where the notes of the normal legato patches are too short.

  • Thanks Herb. Were these looped legatos newly created for SE? Will the patches be available for the VI's at some point?

  • These patches are also included in all other VI collections.
Mostly they are placed in the
98 RESOURCES/03 Perf Speed variation folders.

  • Wow, I never realised that, thanks for the tip! Looped perfomance legatos, very useful. By the way, thanks to VSL for re-introducing the numbers that display in the VI's 'H-Span' and 'V-Span' windows - they make it much easier to accurately copy those switch settings from one VI to another.
