  • What Key is a A. Lecomte Oboe?

[i]Hello All! Well I am now trying to find out what key an A. Lecomte Oboe plays in. Also will I be able to be in tune with other instruments playing modern music. I would appreciate all the help I can get or point me in the right direction, as Angelo has done. A Big 10 for all your help Angelo! Since this is an old instrument I am worried I might be out of tune with other instruments. Look forward to your comments!

  • I guess as any oboe it is non-transposing, sounds as written, and has a natural scale of C, but rather not Boehm system.

The pitch it was built to may be lower. The French government passed a law on February 16, 1859 which set the A above middle C at 435 Hz.
